What Is Kinetin?
Ever ince ancient times, beauty secrets have included the use of plants, oils and their bi-products. Ancient Egypt, and her famed beauties were using plant based products to enhance their beauty and youthful appearances since before recorded history. For example, most of us know of the healing properties of Aloe Vera, including how effective it is in healing burns, but what many of us don’t know is that the Egyptians knew this also. Some effective beauty secrets have been lost through the passage of time, yet other new ideas surface as our never ending pursuit of youth and vitality continues onward.
In recent years, with all of the ongoing research into the war against aging, a new promising product, a natual hormone found in plants, is being explored for its cell division capabilities. Kinetin is the trade mark name for a cytokinin. Cytokinins are attributed to the growth of plants. When applied to its surface, cytokinins have been shown to preserve and keep a green leaf from turning brown. An amazing revelation when, considering the implications of its anti-aging properties as they can be applied to mature adult skin. Kinetin works by stimulating skin cell division at deeper levels, keeping the skin cell functioning to remain younger and last longer.
The scientific name for Kinetin is N6-furfuryladenine, and although it is in its early stages of research and development, many things are known about this plant hormone. Some research suggests that Kinetin might be instrumental in preventing damage to DNA in human skin cells due to its anti-oxidant properties. In addition to this, by reducing the skin’s water loss, it keeps wrinkles from emerging from dehydrated skin. With Kinetin, skin cells stay healthier longer and it seems to slow down the emergence of the visible signs of aging.
The skin’s cellular health begins to diminish as we become older and as a result, the related collagen production starts to become more sluggish. This s when we begin seeing a thinning of the skin, loss of elasticity and the sagging effects of gravity.
The skin’s reaction to Kinetin is that cells remain healthy and actively producing the essential collagen required for the youthful appearance of skin. Although there is a lot more we need to know about Kinetin and research is underway, it looks to be in the line-up of another super star in the battle against the aging process.
